Lindy Vopnfjörð
Lindy Vopnfjörð, previously credited as Lindy, is a Canadian singer-songwriter, who has performed both as a solo artist and as a member of several bands. After singing in an Icelandic folk group as a child, he co-founded the folk-rock group Northern Junk with his brother in the early 1990s, developing a following in Victoria, B.C. He later released several solo albums while living in Toronto, and also was a member of the indie rock band Major Maker, whose single "Rollercoaster" charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. His 2013 solo album, Young Waverer, had several singles chart on CBC Radio's Radio 2 Top 20 and R3-30 charts. Currently based in Hamilton, Ontario, as of 2014 he continues to tour and perform live.
Early life
Lindy Vopnfjörð was born on May 26, 1972 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His grandfather, Axel Vopnfjörð, was a prominent figure in the Icelandic Canadian community, who served as president of the Icelandic Canadian Club. His parents Len and Karen Vopnfjörð were both folk singers, and from a young age both Vopnfjörð and his brother Kris would join them in singing Icelandic songs.

Lindy (opera)
Lindy is an opera in two acts by Australian composer Moya Henderson to an English libretto by Judith Rodriguez. It is based on the death of Lindy and Michael Chamberlain's baby Azaria Chamberlain in the Australian outback at Uluru in 1980.
The opera lasts for about 1 hour and 35 minutes. It premiered on 25 October 2002 at the Sydney Opera House.

Sim or Shim is a Korean surname. There are six Shim clans in Korea based in the regions ofCheongsong, Pungsan, Samcheok, Buyu, Uiryeong, and Jeonju. The biggest Sim clan is Cheongsong; they comprise about 85% of the all those with the surname Shim. Fourteen percent of all Korean Shims are members of the Pungsan and Samcheok clans. As of 2000, there were 252,255 people with this surname in South Korea, less than 1% of the population.

Similitude (Star Trek: Enterprise)
"Similitude" is the tenth episode from the third season of the television series Star Trek: Enterprise. It first aired on November 19, 2003 and was the sixty-second episode of the series.
Plot
Commander Tucker, while endeavoring to increase to stable speed of Enterprise to Warp 5, becomes comatose when the engines destabilize and explode. Doctor Phlox suggests a radical and controversial procedure to save him - growing a mimetic symbiote as a neurological donor. Archer, concerned with the overarching goal of their mission, gives the order to do so. The symbiote, with a natural life-span of two weeks, is then injected with Tucker's blood and is soon born. Phlox names him "Sim", and as he develops rapidly, Tucker's memories and personality begin to express themselves (including an interest in engineering, and a romantic attraction to Sub-Commander T'Pol).
The window of time approaches when Phlox must perform the transplant, which, according to him, will unfortunately now be fatal to Sim-Trip. Sim, having now 'met' himself in sickbay, reveals knowledge of an experimental procedure that might allow for an extension (presumably by decades) of his lifespan. Archer learns that Phlox was aware of this procedure, but concealed his knowledge of it due to its highly experimental and poorly researched nature. Sim then expresses a strong desire to live —Tucker's own life notwithstanding—through the rest of his natural life. Later, a tired-looking Archer, angered at finding Sim in Trip's quarters, states he would rather Sim voluntarily submit to the fatal procedure than be forced to do so.

Sim is the third album by Brazilian singer-songwriter Vanessa da Mata, released on May 28, 2007 by Sony BMG. It was partially recorded at Kingston, Jamaica with musicians Sly & Robbie. It spawned the hit single "Boa Sorte/Good Luck", a duet with Ben Harper, which peaked at number one in both Brazil and Portugal, and was the most played song in Brazilian radio stations in the year of 2008. The second single, "Amado", also became a number-one hit in Brazil and the 15th most played song in the same year.

Presentation: 'Excellence in the Arts in regional Australia'
Excellence: capital E. It's a wonderful word, an uncompromising word, an aspirational word, a noble, distinguished, reaching, shining, stretching, striving word. It's a word that's out and proud, a word to say with purpose and consequence. Unfortunately in relation to the arts in regional Australia it's a word that has sometimes been sidelined to make way for more 'democratic' language. In the ten years I've lived in regional Australia I've noted a troubling disconnect in terminology between metropolitan arts and regional arts; that words like 'excellent', 'global' and 'elite' are used far too infrequently in the narrative surrounding regional arts.
I want to sound a tiny alarm -- we urgently need to challenge the benign, feel-good language that's habitually used to describe cultural, intellectual and creative life in regional Australia, because it's a product of a national mindset that either can't see, or underestimates, our dynamism and our potential impact on the national cultural landscape. Until we change our language, mindset and practices, in the national cultural narrative, regional arts will continue to play the poor cousin to the 'excellent', 'elite' metropolitan arts sector.

Bio: Lindy Hume, Artistic Director of Opera Queensland, is one of Australia's leading directors, acknowledged internationally for fresh interpretations of a wide variety of repertoire, and for progressive artistic leadership of a number of Australian arts organisations, most recently Sydney Festival (2010--2012) and Perth International Arts Festival (2004--2007). Lindy was the first Artistic Director of West Australian Opera (1992--1996) and was Artistic Director of Victoria State Opera, then OzOpera (1996--2001). As a director, she has created more than 50 major productions across Australasia, Europe and America. Lindy is recognised as a champion of new Australian work across a range of genres. As Artistic Director of OzOpera, she commissioned the MDTV project, award-winning screen operas with ABC TV, and major Australian works including Paul Grabowsky's Love in the Age of Therapy and Richard Mills' Batavia (with Opera Australia and the Melbourne Centenary of Federation Festival). Lindy's 2001 production of Batavia won the Helpmann and Green Room Awards for Best Director and Best Production. In 2007, she commissioned and directed the world première of Richard Mills/Timberlake Wertenbaker's opera The Love of the Nightingale, one of several new creations for Perth International Arts Festival. Lindy Hume is the recipient of an Australia Council Theatre Board Fellowship and holds a Graduate Diploma in Arts Administration from the University of South Australia. In 2007, she was awarded the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters by The University of Western Australia in recognition of her contribution to the cultural life of Western Australia. She sits on the Boards of South East Arts (Chair), Regional Arts NSW (Chair) and served on the Australia Council's Major Performing Arts Board (2008--2011).

In August of 2019, Stage Director Lindy Hume impressed Seattle audiences with an insightful and compelling production of Verdi's RIGOLETTO. Prior to that she demonstrated her comedic flair with a pair of Rossini comedies: THE BARBER OF SEVILLE and THE WICKED ADVENTURES OF COUNT ORY, the later created with Production Designer Dan Potra.
Hume and Potra team up with Rossini again for a whimsical new production of the feelgood fairy tale: CINDERELLA, playing October 19 thru November 1 at McCaw Hall.

Presentation: 'Excellence in the Arts in regional Australia'
Excellence: capital E. It's a wonderful word, an uncompromising word, an aspirational word, a noble, distinguished, reaching, shining, stretching, striving word. It's a word that's out and proud, a word to say with purpose and consequence. Unfortunately in relation to the arts in regional Australia it's a word that has sometimes been sidelined to make way for more 'democratic' language. In the ten years I've lived in regional Australia I've noted a troubling disconnect in terminology between metropolitan arts and regional arts; that words like 'excellent', 'global' and 'elite' are used far too infrequently in the narrative surrounding regional arts.
I want to sound a tiny alarm -- we urgently need to challenge the benign, feel-good language that's habitually used to describe cultural, intellectual and creative life in regional Australia, because it's a product of a national mindset that either can't see, or underestimates, our dynamism and our potential impact on the national cultural landscape. Until we change our language, mindset and practices, in the national cultural narrative, regional arts will continue to play the poor cousin to the 'excellent', 'elite' metropolitan arts sector.

Bio: Lindy Hume, Artistic Director of Opera Queensland, is one of Australia's leading directors, acknowledged internationally for fresh interpretations of a wide variety of repertoire, and for progressive artistic leadership of a number of Australian arts organisations, most recently Sydney Festival (2010--2012) and Perth International Arts Festival (2004--2007). Lindy was the first Artistic Director of West Australian Opera (1992--1996) and was Artistic Director of Victoria State Opera, then OzOpera (1996--2001). As a director, she has created more than 50 major productions across Australasia, Europe and America. Lindy is recognised as a champion of new Australian work across a range of genres. As Artistic Director of OzOpera, she commissioned the MDTV project, award-winning screen operas with ABC TV, and major Australian works including Paul Grabowsky's Love in the Age of Therapy and Richard Mills' Batavia (with Opera Australia and the Melbourne Centenary of Federation Festival). Lindy's 2001 production of Batavia won the Helpmann and Green Room Awards for Best Director and Best Production. In 2007, she commissioned and directed the world première of Richard Mills/Timberlake Wertenbaker's opera The Love of the Nightingale, one of several new creations for Perth International Arts Festival. Lindy Hume is the recipient of an Australia Council Theatre Board Fellowship and holds a Graduate Diploma in Arts Administration from the University of South Australia. In 2007, she was awarded the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters by The University of Western Australia in recognition of her contribution to the cultural life of Western Australia. She sits on the Boards of South East Arts (Chair), Regional Arts NSW (Chair) and served on the Australia Council's Major Performing Arts Board (2008--2011).
